The Monday Preparation
In the Northern Indian states, the government school dress is generally light bluish shirts coupled with a khaki pant and for girls it's a light bluish kurta with white salwar. You will see shining though not well ironed shirts across the terrain on a warm summer morning among the hills. The beauty lies on the weekend when the mother makes all needed efforts to get the two or three pairs of dress the child has, soak them in a steel tumbler on a stream bank and take up the toll for half of the day to wash them. Later, the blue shirts that generally shines in the classrooms are sun dried adoring the entire landscape with the objective of the preparations for the next day. Weekly preparations along with the scheduling of tasks is very evident and is well coupled with the limited resources available. The privilege generally doesn't lie with half a dozen shirts to wear for the school. This is sustainability. Should we go back to what we lived like?
